That's the TikiGawd

We Tikis have simple philosophies. Really. We incorporate these philosophies into our web site, our chat servers, our web forum, and our lives. Some may call our philosophies our "rules of conduct", but that sounds so stuffy and up-tight. Indeed not! These are our philosophies! One can learn how we Tikis would think about a potential unnamed theoretical future situation, and how we would bring the mighty tiki hammer down to solve the problem. And unlike a nominated Supreme Court justice testifying before a judicial comittee in Congress, we have the khunas to admit how we'd rule.

G-rated IRC Channel Enforcement

When there is a G-Rated channel on the Tikiopolis Internet relay Chat (IRC) Chat Server, it is designed to be a safe environment for those young humans that need a chat environment no more grammatically dangerous than a MPAA G-rated film.

We Tikis are no paper tigers. We mean what we say. We have therefore enabled a badwords suppression system on our chat server. Any channel operator can decide whether they want a G-rated channel. They do this by setting the Channel Mode +G. Most curse words are replaced with kindergarden variety alternatives that makes the tough cursing gangsta look like the village idiot he or she is, as we all know that profanity is an indication of a weak mind.

Although we Tikis understand that languages are dynamic and evolve and are full of vulgar slang, there are certain words that never have a place in a G-Rated channel. These words we *bleep* out. We Tikis find these words sufficiently offensive, considering the G-rated environment, that we will track those individuals who use them. If a chatter uses those words that *bleep* more than 3 times, they will be summarily banned from the server for a period of one day. Any single *bleep* word from that same individual in the future will earn the ban.

There are a few words, however, that will ban a chatter after a single use. Please don't try and guess these words. They should be obvious. Guessing will likely get you banned.

FAIR WARNING: Due to limitations in technology, our Channel Bot that monitors the conversation in the G-rated rooms reacts when an individual speaks the filtered words. Therefore, do not say, in normal conversation, the following words, otherwise you will be caught in the same net that bans the foul-mouthed creeps:
  • *bleep*
  • *BLEEP*
Since these philosophies are stated in the chat server's Message Of The Day (MOTD), there will be no pardons, appeals, bribes, or listening to of any whinings. If one whines, they will get a link back to this philosophy. It is, after all, only a one-day ban.

No Chat Room Monitoring

We, the proprietors of Tikiopolis and all our chat room bots, do not monitor or record chat room conversations.

Look! It is the responsibility of the chat room owner to monitor his or her chat room, or choose not to.

Although we have bots in every chat room on the Tikiopolis chat server, the purpose of this bot is not to monitor conversation, but to enforce channel modes in the chat room. TikiWiki was configured explicitly not to log chat room activity in the chat rooms owned by Tikiopolis community members.
